One of the aspects I lOVE shooting the most as a Maui wedding photographer is the getting ready wedding photos. For instance, they help to tell your story, they show so much emotion, and you can make the photos realllly pretty. Here are my tips to help you make the getting ready wedding photos go smoothly.

1. De-clutter

Above all make sure the room is clear before your photographer arrives, one of the things that uses up so much of our time is tidying BEFORE we have to take photos. Enlist one of your bridesmaids to be in charge!

2. Pop the bubbly and pump the music.

Who wants to be sitting around in silence listening to the clock and tapping their fingers? Break the ice and let your hair down, your pictures will be all the better for it!

3. Get your details ready

Have all your little things ready to go for the photographer – rings, earrings, veil, garter, vows, shoes, something blue, and a copy of the invite would be awesome too! Similarly you can get custom hangers and ring boxes like these ones here.

4. Light

Try to pick a location that has lots of natural light. If you can choose a room with lots of light versus a room with tiny windows, your pictures will therefore be 10000 times better!

5. Make sure you have enough TIME

Don’t skimp on time for the getting ready photos, sometimes hair and makeup can run over and therefore you will be rushed putting on your dress and the final touches. Ask your photographer how much time they typically need.
