There’s magic in the air—and not just because of these Harry Potter themed engagement photos. When Frinz and Michael approached me to capture their love story with a unique twist, I knew we were about to create something truly unforgettable. Their vision? A Harry Potter-themed engagement photo shoot in the lush jungles of Maui, blending fantasy with the natural beauty of Hawaii. And, of course, adding their personal touch as an LGBTQ+ couple celebrating their journey together.
The Perfect Spell for a Magical Shoot
From the moment I met Frinz and Michael, I could feel their deep connection and the playful energy they shared. The couple, both passionate fans of the Harry Potter universe, wanted their engagement shoot to reflect the enchanting world that brought them closer. What better place to channel the wonder of magic than the mystical jungles of Maui?
Setting the Scene
For the shoot, Frinz and Michael brought along some of their favorite Harry Potter props: wands, scarves in their Hogwarts house colors (one Gryffindor and one Ravenclaw, of course!) The attention to detail was incredible and added a playful, authentic element to the session.
But the magic didn’t stop there. Frinz and Michael wore matching velvet robes reminiscent of wizard cloaks, while the lush jungle setting served as their Forbidden Forest. We found quiet clearings that added a fairytale element to the photos.
Why This Shoot Meant So Much
As a photographer, capturing the essence of a couple’s relationship is always my goal. But working with Frinz and Michael on this Harry Potter-themed shoot in the Maui jungle was something special. My personal connection to Harry Potter, (apart from the obvious that I LOVE magic) is that my dad actually worked on the original movie set as a sculptor!
