Planning to elope in Maui?
I’ve chatted to many brides (and grooms) over the years. I know how hard it is to plan your Maui elopement. After all when you can’t see the island first hand it makes it just SO hard to pick elopement locations. I photograph and plan so many elopement weddings on Maui and I can help you. Just remember aren’t limited to just one of these amazing spots. You can adventure from one to the next! Maui is quite small. In addition I like to sometimes drive down the road with my couples so we can get more pictures at a different location after the ceremony!

Haleakala Crater Wedding
Who wouldn’t want to get married on top of the world? Haleakala is Maui’s dormant volcano. With amazing views of the island and the possibility of a stunning sunrise or sunset, you can’t beat this one. If getting married above the clouds, and photos unlike anyone else is important to you this has to be top of your list! However you must be prepared to dress warm (the temps can go down to 30F)
Cliffside Wedding
Maui has no shortage of clifftop locations, the lava rock makes for some stunning backgrounds! Depending on whether you are staying on the North shore in Paia, Wailea, or Lahaina, you can find a perfect clifftop for your ceremony. Sometimes the tourist towns are crowded. However you can often find a secluded area to yourself. If you don’t mind the wind, you’ll get great views of turtles, whales, and a pretty hike to get there along the way!
Waterfall Wedding
Hawaii Waterfalls are world famous! Having your wedding at a waterfall here can be a bit tricky in terms of permitting and finding which waterfalls we are legally allowed to conduct a ceremony at. That’s why it’s important to work with an experienced photographer and officiant to make sure you do it the right way. Getting up early is usually the key for waterfall weddings. To beat the crowds of people that usually start appearing at around 8.30 am. What a magical place to say your vows, in the midst of a jungle listening to only the sounds of the birds, and the trickling water.
Beach Wedding
Of course, last but not least, a Maui Beach Wedding. I know that the first thing that springs to mind when you think of Hawaii is those beautiful sandy beaches. Why not include them in your wedding photography? Maui has so much diversity, it’s awesome if you can plan an epic adventure for your elopement that will give you a taste of Maui as a whole. As a bonus it will give your friends and family back home an awesome album to look at!
