The Elopement Location
This Haleakala elopement wedding was an adventure and different! (Just what I like) Imagine getting married at 10,000 feet on a dormant volcano in Hawaii! There is no where like it. And did you know it is also known as the heart-chakra of the world? What a special place! And what amazing wedding photos to take home and show your loved ones. Forget the big wedding back home, run away to Hawaii and hike up a volcano for photos!
The Wedding Day
We got up at 4 am and drove up the mountain to catch the sunrise, as we neared the summit we could see there was rain and thick cloud. I know, not always welcome for photography on your wedding day, but in Hawaii rain is actually good luck for your ceremony and a blessing! And what’s a Haleakala elopement without a little adventure?! However we trudged on anyway hoping to get a break in the weather. These guys were so well prepared, with fur throws and hand warmers (this is a great idea!!) and Lisa even wore leggings under her dress, genius!
After that Chrissy Kapoor met us for their ceremony. Consequently the rain subsided and we were blessed with beautiful weather as the clouds parted. When you’re on top of Haleakala you’re often above the cloud, so as they were reading their vows clouds were rising up behind them like steam it was a magical sight!
Lisa and Aegir are expecting a little baby soon therefore this ceremony on top of the world was all the more special. How absolutely in love and gorgeous are they?!
Haleakala can’t be beaten for a magical adventure elopement location on Maui. Similarly, as with all weddings on Maui, you have to make sure you have your film permit – which your photographer or minister can get. Check this link for film permit info https://filmoffice.hawaii.gov/news/permit-procedures/
